{Nehemiah 4:17} They which builded 1129 z8802 on the wall, 2346 and they that bare 5375 z8802 burdens, 5447 with those that laded, 6006 z8802 [every one] with one 259 of his hands 3027 wrought 6213 z8802 in the work, 4399 and with the other 259 [hand] held 2388 z8688 a weapon. 7973

bare burdens:
"And Judahª said,ª ° The strengthª of the bearers of burdensª is decayed,ª ° and [there is] muchª ° rubbish;ª so that we¹ are not¹ ableª ° to buildª ° the wall.ª" {Neh 4:10}

every one:
That is, he had his arms at hand; and was as fully prepared to fight as to work. The builders could not possibly have made any progress, if they had literally held a weapon in one of their hands; but the expression is evidently figurative, implying that every man was a much a soldier as a builder.

with one:
