{Nehemiah 4:16} And it came to pass x1961 from x4480 that x1931 time 3117 forth, [that] the half 2677 of my servants 5288 wrought 6213 z8802 in the work, 4399 and the other half 2677 of them held 2388 z8688 both the spears, 7420 the shields, 4043 and the bows, 7198 and the habergeons; 8302 and the rulers 8269 [were] behind 310 all x3605 the house 1004 of Judah. 3063

my servants:
"So neither¹ I,¹ nor my brethren,ª nor my servants,ª nor the men² ¹ of the guardª which¹ followedª me, none¹ of usª put offª ° our clothes,ª [saving that] every oneª put them off² ¹ for washing.ª" {Neh 4:23} + "But the formerª governorsª that¹ [had been] beforeª me were chargeableª ° unto¹ the people,ª and had takenª ° of¹ them breadª and wine,ª besideª fortyª shekelsª of silver;ª yea,¹ even² their servantsª bare ruleª ° over¹ the people:ª but so¹ didª ° not¹ I,¹ becauseª ¹ of the fearª of God.ª ... and the other half:
This is no unusual thing in Palestine, even at the present day; people sowing their seed are often attended by armed men, to prevent the Arabs from robbing them of it.

habergeons:
Habergeon, from the Teutonic hals, the neck, and bergen, to cover, defend, may be considered as signifying a breast-plate, though the Franco-Gallic hautbergon signifies a coat of mail; the original shiryon, we have already seen, denotes a corslet.
