{Ezra 6:18} And they set 6966 z8684 the priests 3549 in their divisions, 6392 and the Levites 3879 in their courses, 4255 for 5922 the service 5673 of God, 426 which x1768 [is] at Jerusalem; 3390 as it is written 3792 in the book 5609 of Moses. 4873

the priests:
"So when Davidª was oldª ° and fullª ° of days,ª he made¹ ¹ Solomonª his sonª king² ° over¹ Israel.ª ... And his brethren,ª menª of valour,ª [were] two thousandª and sevenª hundredª chiefª fathers,ª whom kingª Davidª made rulersª ° over¹ the Reubenites,ª the Gadites,ª and the halfª tribeª of Manasseh,ª for every¹ matterª pertaining to God,ª and affairsª of the king.ª" {1Ch 23:1-26:32} + "And prepareª °°° [yourselves] by the housesª of your fathers,ª after your courses,ª according to the writingª of Davidª kingª of Israel,ª and according to the writingª of Solomonª his son.ª ... And stand¹ in² ° the holyª [place] according to the divisionsª of the familiesª of the fathersª of your brethrenª the people,ª ª and [after] the divisionª of the familiesª ª of the Levites.ª" {2Ch 35:4-5}

as it is written:
Chal, according to the writing, "Bring² ° the tribe² of Levi² near,ª °¹ ¹ ¹ and presentª ° them beforeª Aaronª the priest,ª that they may ministerª ° unto him." {Num 3:6} + "And thou shalt bringª °¹ the Levitesª beforeª the tabernacleª of the congregation:ª and thou shalt gatherª °¹ the whole¹ assemblyª of the childrenª of Israelª together:² ° ... But shall ministerª ° with¹ their brethrenª in the tabernacleª of the congregation,ª to keepª ° the charge,ª and shall doª ° no¹ service.ª Thus¹ shalt thou doª ° unto the Levitesª touching their charge.ª" {Num 8:9-26}
