- there was no passover:
- Not one on purer principles, more heartily joined in by the people present, more literally or exactly consecrated, according to the law, or more religiously observed. The words do not refer to the number present, but to the manner and spirit. "So they establishedª° a decreeª to make proclamationªª° throughout all¹ Israel,ª from Beershebaª¹ even to¹ Dan,ª that they should comeª° to keepª° the passoverª unto the LORDª Godª of Israelª at Jerusalem:ª for¹ they had not¹ doneª° [it] of a longª [time in such sort] as it was written.ª°" {2Ch 30:5} + "And the kingª commandedª°¹ all¹ the people,ª saying,ª° Keepª° the passoverª unto the LORDª your God,ª as [it is] writtenª° in¹ the bookª of this¹ covenant.ª ... But¹¹ in the eighteenthªª yearª of kingª Josiah,ª [wherein] this¹ passoverª was holdenª° to the LORDª in Jerusalem.ª" {2Kg 23:21-23}
