- Hezekiah rejoiced:
- Both Hezekiah and the people rejoiced, that God had prepared the hearts of the people to bring about so great and glorious a reformation in so short a time. This good king's example and influence were here, as in many other cases, under God, the grand spring of all those mighty movements. "Then the peopleª rejoiced,ª° for¹ that they offered willingly,ª° because¹ with perfectª heartª they offered willinglyª° to the LORD:ª and Davidª the kingª also¹ rejoicedª° with greatª joy.ª" {1Ch 29:9} + "I knowª° also, my God,ª that¹ thou¹ triestª° the heart,ª and hast pleasureª° in uprightness.ª As for me,¹ in the uprightnessª of mine heartª I have willingly offeredª° all¹ these things:¹ and now¹ have I seenª° with joyª thy people,ª which are presentª° here,¹ to offer willinglyª° unto thee." {1Ch 29:17} + "And keptª° the feastª of unleavened breadª sevenª daysª with joy:ª for¹ the LORDª had made them joyful,ª° and turnedª° the heartª of the kingª of Assyriaª unto¹ them, to strengthenª° their handsª in the workª of the houseª of God,ª the Godª of Israel.ª" {Ezr 6:22} + "Forª nowª we live,ª° ifª yeª stand fastª° inª the Lord.ª ... Forª whatª thanksª can¹ we²° render²° to God² againª°¹ forª you,ª forª allª the¹ joyª wherewithª we joyª° for² your sakesª¹ beforeª ourª God;ª" {1Th 3:8-9}
