"Which was writ before his assumption." Elijah the prophet:
If the account of the translation of Elijah be given in the order in which it happened, then it occurred in the reign of Jehoshaphat, the father of Jehoram. Hence, it is probable that he wrote it before his assumption, and left it to be delivered by Elisha or one of the prophets. "And it came to pass,¹ as they¹ still² ° went on,ª ° and talked,ª ° that, behold,¹ [there appeared] a chariotª of fire,ª and horsesª of fire,ª and partedª ° them bothª asunder;ª and Elijahª went upª ° by a whirlwindª into heaven.ª" {2Kg 2:11}

in the ways of Jehoshaphat:
"And the LORDª was¹ with¹ Jehoshaphat,ª because¹ he walkedª ° in the firstª waysª of his fatherª David,ª and soughtª ° not¹ unto Baalim;ª ... But¹ soughtª ° to the [LORD] Godª of his father,ª and walkedª ° in his commandments,ª and not¹ after the doingsª of Israel.ª" {2Ch 17:3-4} + "And he walked² °¹ in all¹ the waysª of Asaª his father;ª he turned not asideª °¹ from¹ it, doingª ° [that which was] rightª in the eyesª of the LORD:ª nevertheless¹ the high placesª were not¹ taken away;ª ° [for] the peopleª offeredª ° and burnt incenseª ° yet¹ in the high places.ª" {1Kg 22:43}

in the ways of Asa:
"And Asaª didª ° [that which was] goodª and rightª in the eyesª of the LORDª his God:ª ... Also he took awayª ° out of all¹ ¹ the citiesª of Judahª ¹ the high placesª and the images:ª and the kingdomª was quietª ° beforeª him." {2Ch 14:2-5} + "And Asaª didª ° [that which was] rightª in the eyesª of the LORD,ª as [did] Davidª his father.ª" {1Kg 15:11}
