- Ephrain:
- Ephrain, or Ephron, a city of Benjamin, is placed by Eusebius, eight miles north of Jerusalem, near Bethel. Josephus calls Ephrain and Bethel two little cities; and places the former in the tribe of Benjamin, near the wilderness of Judea, in the way to Jericho. "And when Asaª heardª° these¹ words,ª and the prophecyª of Odedª the prophet,ª he took courage,ª° and put awayª° the abominable idolsª out of all¹¹ the landª of Judahª and Benjamin,ª and out of¹ the citiesª which¹ he had takenª° from mountª¹ Ephraim,ª and renewedª°¹ the altarª of the LORD,ª that¹ [was] beforeª the porchª of the LORD.ª" {2Ch 15:8} + "And the borderª was drawnª° from the topª¹ of the hillª unto¹ the fountainª of the waterª of Nephtoah,ª and went outª° to¹ the citiesª of mountª Ephron;ª and the borderª was drawnª° to Baalah,ª which¹ [is] Kirjathjearim:ª" {Jsh 15:9}, Ephron, "Jesusª thereforeª walkedª° no¹ more²¹ openlyª amongª the¹ Jews;ª butª wentª° thenceª untoª a countryª near² to¹ the¹ wilderness,ª intoª a cityª calledª° Ephraim,ª and thereª continuedª° withª hisª disciples.ª" {Jhn 11:54}
