Ashan:
It is probable that either Ain, in Joshua, is a mistake for Ashan, or that it was called by both names. "And their villagesª [were], Etam,ª and Ain,ª Rimmon,ª and Tochen,ª and Ashan,ª fiveª cities:ª" {1Ch 4:32} + "Libnah,ª and Ether,ª and Ashan,ª" {Jsh 15:42} + "And Ainª with¹ her suburbs,ª and Juttahª with¹ her suburbs,ª [and]¹ Bethshemeshª with¹ her suburbs;ª nineª citiesª out of¹ ¹ those¹ twoª tribes.ª" {Jsh 21:16}, Ain

Bethshemesh:
"And the borderª compassedª ° from Baalahª ¹ westwardª unto¹ mountª Seir,ª and passed² ° along¹ unto¹ the sideª of mountª Jearim,ª which¹ [is] Chesalon,ª on the north side,ª ¹ and went downª ° to Bethshemesh,ª and passed onª ° to Timnah:ª" {Jsh 15:10} + "And Ainª with¹ her suburbs,ª and Juttahª with¹ her suburbs,ª [and]¹ Bethshemeshª with¹ her suburbs;ª nineª citiesª out of¹ ¹ those¹ twoª tribes.ª" {Jsh 21:16} + "And the kineª took the straightª ° wayª to¹ the wayª of Bethshemesh,ª [and] went alongª ° the¹ highway,ª ² lowingª ° as they went,ª ° and turned not asideª °¹ [to] the right handª or [to] the left;ª and the lordsª of the Philistinesª wentª ° afterª them unto¹ the borderª of Bethshemesh.ª ...
