With whom:
"And they rejectedª °¹ his statutes,ª and his covenantª that¹ he madeª ° with¹ their fathers,ª and his testimoniesª which¹ he testifiedª ° against them; and they followedª ² °¹ vanity,ª and became vain,ª ° and went afterª the heathenª that¹ [were] round aboutª them, [concerning] whom¹ the LORDª had chargedª ° them, that they should not¹ doª ° like them." {2Kg 17:15} + "Now¹ therefore, if¹ ye will obey² ° my voice² indeed,ª °¹ and keepª °¹ my covenant,ª then ye shall be¹ a peculiar treasureª unto me above all¹ ¹ people:ª for¹ all¹ the earthª [is] mine: ... charged them:
"Thou shalt not¹ makeª ° unto thee any graven image,ª or any¹ likenessª [of any thing] thatª [is] in heavenª above,ª ¹ or that¹ [is] in the earthª beneath,¹ ¹ or that¹ [is] in the waterª under¹ ¹ the earth:ª ... Thou shalt not¹ bow down² ° thyself¹ to them, nor¹ serveª ° them: for¹ I¹ the LORDª thy Godª [am] a jealousª God,ª visitingª ° the iniquityª of the fathersª upon¹ the childrenª unto¹ the thirdª and fourthª [generation] of them that hateª ° me;" {Exd 20:4-5} + "Take heedª ° to thyself, lest¹ thou makeª ° a covenantª with the inhabitantsª ° of the landª whither¹ ¹ thou¹ goest,ª ° lest¹ it be¹ for a snareª in the midstª of thee: ... fear other gods:
"And I saidª ° unto you, I¹ [am] the LORDª your God;ª fearª ° not¹ ¹ the godsª of the Amorites,ª in whose¹ landª ye¹ dwell:ª ° but ye have not¹ obeyedª ° my voice.ª" {Jdg 6:10} + "They¹ [are] uprightª as the palm tree,ª but speakª ° not:¹ they must needs² ° be borne,ª ° because¹ they cannot¹ go.ª ° Be not¹ afraidª ° of¹ them; for¹ they cannot¹ do evil,ª ° neither¹ also¹ [is it] in¹ them to do good.ª °" {Jer 10:5}
