{2 Kings 17:15} And they rejected 3988 z8799 x853 his statutes, 2706 and his covenant 1285 that x834 he made 3772 z8804 with x854 their fathers, 1 and his testimonies 5715 which x834 he testified 5749 z8689 against them; and they followed 310 y3212 z8799 x1980 vanity, 1892 and became vain, 1891 z8799 and went after 310 the heathen 1471 that x834 [were] round about 5439 them, [concerning] whom x834 the LORD 3068 had charged 6680 z8765 them, that they should not x1115 do 6213 z8800 like them.

they rejected:
"The wiseª [men] are ashamed,² °¹ they are dismayedª ° and taken:ª ° lo,¹ they have rejectedª ° the wordª of the LORD;ª and what¹ wisdomª [is] in them?" {Jer 8:9}

his covenant:
"And Mosesª tookª ° halfª of the blood,ª and putª ° [it] in basons;ª and halfª of the bloodª he sprinkledª ° on¹ the altar.ª ... And Mosesª tookª °¹ the blood,ª and sprinkledª ° [it] on¹ the people,ª and said,ª ° Behold¹ the bloodª of the covenant,ª which¹ the LORDª hath madeª ° with¹ you concerning¹ all¹ these¹ words.ª" {Exd 24:6-8} + "Ye¹ standª ° this dayª all¹ of you beforeª the LORDª your God;ª your captainsª of your tribes,ª your elders,ª and your officers,ª ° [with] all¹ the menª of Israel,ª ... testimonies:
"Ye shall diligently² ° keepª °¹ the commandmentsª of the LORDª your God,ª and his testimonies,ª and his statutes,ª which¹ he hath commandedª ° thee. ... And thou shalt doª ° [that which is] rightª and goodª in the sightª of the LORD:ª that¹ it may be wellª ° with thee, and that thou mayest go inª ° and possessª °¹ the goodª landª which¹ the LORDª swareª ° unto thy fathers,ª" {Deu 6:17-18} + "And the LORDª Godª of their fathersª sentª ° to¹ them byª his messengers,ª rising up betimes,ª ° and sending;ª ° because¹ he had compassionª ° on¹ his people,ª and on¹ his dwelling place:ª ... vanity:

became vain:
"Thus¹ saithª ° the LORD,ª What¹ iniquityª have your fathersª foundª ° in me, that¹ they are gone farª ° from¹ ¹ me, and have walked² °¹ afterª vanity,ª and are become vain?ª °" {Jer 2:5} + "Because² that,¹ when they knewª ° God,ª they glorifiedª ° [him] notª asª God,ª neitherª were thankful;ª ° butª became vainª ° inª their² ¹ imaginations,ª andª their² ¹ foolishª heartª was darkened.ª ° ...
