- Smite this people:
- Confound their sight, so that they may not know what they see; and so mistake one place for another. The word sanverim, rendered blindness, occurs only here and in "And they smoteª° the men²¹ that¹ [were] at the doorª of the houseª with blindness,ª both smallª¹ and great:ª so that they wearied²° themselves¹ to findª° the door.ª" {Gen 19:11} (see note).
