- the thirty:
- As it is stated in "And Zimriª went inª° and smoteª° him, and killedª° him, in the twentyª and seventhª yearª of Asaª kingª of Judah,ª and reignedª° in his stead.¹" {1Kg 16:10} and "In the twentyª² and seventhª yearª of Asaª kingª of Judahª did Zimriª reignª° sevenª daysª in Tirzah.ª And the peopleª [were] encampedª° against¹ Gibbethon,ª which¹ [belonged] to the Philistines.ª" {1Kg 16:15}, that Zimri began to reign in the 27th year of Asa; and as he reigned only seven days, and Omri immediately succeeded him, this could not be the 31st, but in the 27th year of Asa. Jarchi, from Sedar Olam, reconciles this, by stating that Tibni and Omri began to reign jointly in the 27th year of Asa; and that Tibni dying about five years afterwards, Omri began to reign alone in the 31st year of Asa. "Fortyª and twoª yearsª oldª [was] Ahaziahª when he began to reign,ª° and he reignedª° oneª yearª in Jerusalem.ª His mother'sª nameª also [was] Athaliahª the daughterª of Omri.ª" {2Ch 22:2}
