{1 Kings 2:34} So Benaiah 1141 the son 1121 of Jehoiada 3077 went up, 5927 z8799 and fell 6293 z8799 upon him, and slew 4191 z8686 him: and he was buried 6912 z8735 in his own house 1004 in the wilderness. 4057

Benaiah:
"And kingª Solomonª sentª ° by the handª of Benaiahª the sonª of Jehoiada;ª and he fellª ° upon him that he died.ª °" {1Kg 2:25} + "And the kingª saidª ° unto him, Doª ° as¹ he hath said,ª ° and fallª ° upon him, and buryª ° him; that thou mayest take awayª ° the innocentª blood,ª which¹ Joabª shed,ª ° from¹ ¹ me, and from¹ ¹ the houseª of my father.ª" {1Kg 2:31} + "So the kingª commandedª °¹ Benaiahª the sonª of Jehoiada;ª which went out,ª ° and fellª ° upon him, that he died.ª ° And the kingdomª was establishedª ° in the handª of Solomon.ª" {1Kg 2:46}

and fell:
It appears that he slew him at the very altar. The altar was so sacred among all the people, that, in general, even the vilest wretch found safety, if he once reached it. This led to many abuses, and the perversion of public justice; and God decreed ("And he saidª ° unto¹ the elders,ª Tarryª ° ye hereª for us, until¹ ¹ we come againª ° unto¹ you: and, behold,¹ Aaronª and Hurª [are] with¹ you: if anyª manª ° have any mattersª to do,² let him comeª ° unto¹ them." {Exd 24:14}) that the presumptuous murderer, who had taken refuge at his altar, should be dragged thence and put to death.
