am 2949-2989, bc 1055-1015, An, Ex, Is, 436-476, The Tachmonite. or, Josheb-bassebet, the Tachmonite, head of the three.
"And this¹ [is] the numberª of the mighty menª whom¹ Davidª had; Jashobeam,ª an Hachmonite,ª¹ the chiefª of the captains:ª°² he¹ lifted upª°¹ his spearª against¹ threeª hundredª slainª [by him] at oneª time.ª ... And afterª him [was] Eleazarª the sonª of Dodo,ª the Ahohite,ª who¹ [was one] of the threeª mighties.ª" {1Ch 11:11-12} + "Over¹ the firstª courseª for the firstª monthª [was] Jashobeamª the sonª of Zabdiel:ª and in¹ his courseª [were] twentyª and fourª thousand.ª" {1Ch 27:2} + "Also Jonathanª David'sª uncleª was a counsellor,ª° a wiseª° man,ª and a scribe:ª° and Jehielª the sonª of Hachmoniª [was] with¹ the king'sª sons:ª" {1Ch 27:32}; It is highly probable that in this version instead of
yoshaiv bashshaiveth tachkemoni, we should read
yoshavam ben chachmoni, "Joshebeam, son of Hachmoni;' and instead of
hoo adino haetzni, hoo orair eth chanitho, "he lift up his spear," which are the readings in the parallel place in Chronicles, where it is also, "three hundred," instead of "eight hundred."
