{2 Samuel 20:9} And Joab 3097 said 559 z8799 to Amasa, 6021 [Art] thou x859 in health, 7965 my brother? 251 And Joab 3097 took 270 z8799 Amasa 6021 by the beard 2206 with the right 3225 hand 3027 to kiss 5401 z8800 him.

Art thou:
"[The words] of his mouthª were smootherª ° than butter,ª but warª [was] in his heart:ª his wordsª were softerª ° than oil,ª ¹ yet [were] they¹ drawn swords.ª" {Psa 55:21} + "He that hatethª ° dissemblethª ° with his lips,ª and layeth upª ° deceitª withinª him; ... [Whose] hatredª is coveredª ° by deceit,ª his wickednessª shall be shewedª ° before the [whole] congregation.ª" {Prv 26:24-26} + "The goodª [man] is perishedª ° out of¹ the earth:ª and [there is] none¹ uprightª among men:ª they all¹ lie in waitª ° for blood;ª they huntª ° every manª ¹ his brotherª with a net.ª" {Mic 7:2}

took Amasa:
Thevenot says, that among the Turks it is a great affront to take one by the beard, unless it be to kiss him, in which case they often do it. D'Arvieux, describing an assembly of Arab emirs at an entertainment, says, "After the usual civilities, caresses, kissings of the beard, and of the hand, which every one gave and received according to his rank and dignity, they sat down upon mats." The doing this by the Arab emirs corresponds with the conduct of Joab, and illustrates this horrid assassination.

to kiss him:
"Nowª he that betrayedª ° himª gaveª ° themª a sign,ª saying,ª ° Whomsoeverª ª I shall kiss,ª ° that sameª isª ° he:² hold² ° him² fast.ª °¹ ... Andª forthwithª he cameª ° to Jesus,ª and said,ª ° Hail,ª ° master;ª andª kissedª ° him.ª" {Mtt 26:48-49} + "Andª while heª yetª spake,ª ° beholdª ° a multitude,ª andª he that was calledª ° Judas,ª oneª of the¹ twelve,ª went beforeª ° them,ª andª drew nearª ° unto Jesusª to kissª ° him.ª ... Butª Jesusª saidª ° unto him,ª Judas,ª betrayest¹ thou² ° the¹ Sonª of manª with a kiss?ª" {Lke 22:47-48}
