- I will take:
- That is, in the course of my providence I will permit this to be done. Such phrases in Scripture do not mean that God either does or can do evil himself; but only that he permits such evil to be done as he foresaw would be done, and which, had he pleased, he might have prevented. "And Ahithophelª saidª° unto¹ Absalom,ª Go¹ in²° unto¹ thy father'sª concubines,ª which¹ he hath left²°¹ to keepª° the house;ª and all¹ Israelª shall hearª° that¹ thou art abhorredª° of¹ thy father:ª then shall the handsª of all¹ that¹ [are] with¹ thee be strong.ª° ...
