teach:
"Judah,ª thou¹ [art he] whom thy brethrenª shall praise:ª ° thy handª [shall be] in the neckª of thine enemies;ª ° thy father'sª childrenª shall bow downª ° before thee." {Gen 49:8} + "[Specially] the dayª that¹ thou stoodestª ° beforeª the LORDª thy Godª in Horeb,ª when the LORDª saidª ° unto¹ me, Gather² ° me the people² together,ª °¹ ¹ and I will make them hearª °¹ my words,ª that¹ they may learnª ° to fearª ° me all¹ the daysª that¹ they¹ shall liveª upon¹ the earth,ª and [that] they may teachª ° their children.ª" {Deu 4:10}

bow:
Kasheth, or the bow, was probably the title of the following threnody; so called, in the oriental style, because Saul's death was occasioned by that weapon, and because the bow of Jonathan, out of which "the arrow was shot beyond the lad," ("And he saidª ° unto his lad,ª Run,ª ° find outª ° now¹ ¹ the arrowsª which¹ I¹ shoot.ª ° [And] as the ladª ran,ª ° he¹ shotª ° an arrowª beyondª ° him." {1Sm 20:36}), is celebrated in this song.

the book:
"And the sunª stood still,ª ° and the moonª stayed,ª ° until¹ the peopleª had avengedª ° themselves upon their enemies.ª ° [Is] not¹ thisª writtenª ° in¹ the bookª of Jasher?ª So the sunª stood¹ still² ° in the midstª of heaven,ª and hastedª ° not¹ to go downª ° about a wholeª day.ª" {Jsh 10:13}

Jasher:
or, the upright, So LXX επι βιβλιου τον ευθους; Targum, siphra deooritha, "the book of the law;" the Arabic, "the book of Ashee. This is the book of Samuel." This book was probably a collection of divine odes, written to commemorate remarkable events.
