{1 Samuel 30:29} And to [them] which x834 [were] in Rachal, 7403 and to [them] which x834 [were] in the cities 5892 of the Jerahmeelites, 3397 and to [them] which x834 [were] in the cities 5892 of the Kenites, 7017

Rachal:
Supposed by Calmet to be the same as Hachilah. "Then came upª ° the Ziphitesª to¹ Saulª to Gibeah,ª saying,ª ° Doth not¹ Davidª hide² ° himself¹ with¹ us in strong holdsª in the wood,ª in the hillª of Hachilah,ª which¹ [is] on the southª ¹ of Jeshimon?ª" {1Sm 23:19}

Jerahmeelites:
The descendants of Jerahmeel son of Hezron ("The sonsª also of Hezron,ª that¹ were bornª ° unto him;¹ Jerahmeel,ª and Ram,ª and Chelubai.ª" {1Ch 2:9} + "And the sonsª of Jerahmeelª the firstbornª of Hezronª were,¹ Ramª the firstborn,ª and Bunah,ª and Oren,ª and Ozem,ª [and] Ahijah.ª ... And the sonsª of Ramª the firstbornª of Jerahmeelª were,¹ Maaz,ª and Jamin,ª and Eker.ª" {1Ch 2:25-27}), who inhabited a district in the south of Judah. "And Achishª said,ª ° Whitherª have ye made a roadª ° to day?ª And Davidª said,ª ° Against¹ the southª of Judah,ª and against¹ the southª of the Jerahmeelites,ª and against¹ the southª of the Kenites.ª" {1Sm 27:10}

Kenites:
These people inhabited a small tract west of the Dead Sea. "And the childrenª of the Kenite,ª Moses'ª father in law,ª ° went upª ° out of the cityª ¹ of palm treesª °² with¹ the childrenª of Judahª into the wildernessª ¹ of Judah,ª which¹ [lieth] in the southª of Arad;ª and they went² °¹ and dweltª ° amongª the people.ª" {Jdg 1:16}
