or, for himself, The LXX read σοι, and the Vulgate tibi, to thee; which is the reading of five of Dr. Kennicott's and De Rossi's manuscripts, as well as both the Bibles printed at Venice in 1518, where we read lecha, "to thee," for lo, "to him;" and as the words are spoken to Saul, this seems to be evidently the correct reading. "The LORDª hath madeª ° all¹ [things] for himself:ª yea, even¹ the wickedª for the dayª of evil.ª" {Prv 16:4}

as he spake:
"And Samuelª saidª ° to¹ Saul,ª Thou hast done foolishly:ª ° thou hast not¹ keptª °¹ the commandmentª of the LORDª thy God,ª which¹ he commandedª ° thee: for¹ now¹ would the LORDª have establishedª °¹ thy kingdomª upon¹ Israelª for² ever.ª ¹ ...
