opened:
"So Hannahª rose upª ° afterª they had eatenª ° in Shiloh,ª and afterª they had drunk.ª ° Now Eliª the priestª satª ° upon¹ a seatª by¹ a postª of the templeª of the LORD.ª" {1Sm 1:9} + "Who¹ [is there] even¹ among you that would shutª ° the doorsª [for nought]? neither¹ do ye kindleª ° [fire] on mine altarª for nought.ª I have no¹ pleasureª in you, saithª ° the LORDª of hosts,ª neither¹ will I acceptª ° an offeringª at your hand.ª ¹" {Mal 1:10}

Samuel:
Samuel reverenced Eli as a father, and feared to distress him by shewing what God had purposed to do. It does not appear that God commanded Samuel to deliver this message; he therefore did not attempt it till adjured by Eli. It might be supposed that Samuel would have been so full of ecstasy as to have forgotten his ordinary service, and run amongst his friends to tell them of the converse he had with God in the night, but he modestly keeps it to himself. Our secret communion with God is not to be proclaimed on the house-top.

feared:

Be not¹ afraidª ° of their faces:ª ¹ for¹ I¹ [am] with¹ thee to deliverª ° thee, saithª ° the LORD.ª" {Jer 1:6-8} + "Nowª ifª Timotheusª come,ª ° seeª ° thatª he may beª ° withª youª without fear:ª forª he workethª ° the¹ workª of the Lord,ª asª Iª alsoª [do]. ...
