{Judges 20:32} And the children 1121 of Benjamin 1144 said, 559 z8799 They x1992 [are] smitten down 5062 z8737 before 6440 us, as at the first. 7223 But the children 1121 of Israel 3478 said, 559 z8804 Let us flee, 5127 z8799 and draw 5423 z8804 them from x4480 the city 5892 unto x413 the highways. 4546

Let us flee:
This was done, not only because they had placed an ambuscade behind Gibeah, which was to enter and burn the city as soon as the Benjamites left it; but it would seem, that the slingers, by being within the city and its fortifications, had great advantage over the Israelites by their slings, when they could not come among them with their swords, unless they got them in the plain country. "And Joshuaª and all¹ Israelª made as if they were beatenª ° beforeª them, and fledª ° by the wayª of the wilderness.ª ...
