- the ark:
- "And the whole¹ congregationª of the childrenª of Israelª assembled togetherª° at Shiloh,ª and set upª°¹ the tabernacleª of the congregationª there.¹ And the landª was subduedª° beforeª them." {Jsh 18:1} + "And when the peopleª were comeª° into¹ the camp,ª the eldersª of Israelª said,ª° Wherefore¹ hath the LORDª smittenª° us to dayª beforeª the Philistines?ª Let us fetchª°¹ the arkª of the covenantª of the LORDª out of Shilohª¹ unto¹ us, that, when it comethª° amongª us, it may saveª° us out of the handª¹ of our enemies.ª° ... So the peopleª sentª° to Shiloh,ª that they might bringª° from thence¹¹¹ the arkª of the covenantª of the LORDª of hosts,ª which dwellethª° [between] the cherubims:ª and the twoª sonsª of Eli,ª Hophniª and Phinehas,ª [were] there¹ with¹ the arkª of the covenantª of God.ª" {1Sm 4:3-4} + "So that he forsookª° the tabernacleª of Shiloh,ª the tentª [which] he placedª° among men;ª ... And deliveredª° his strengthª into captivity,ª and his gloryª into the enemy'sª hand.ª" {Psa 78:60-61} + "But¹ go²°¹ ye now¹ unto¹ my placeª which¹ [was] in Shiloh,ª where¹ I setª° my nameª at the first,ª and seeª°¹ what¹ I didª° to it forª¹ the wickednessª of my peopleª Israel.ª" {Jer 7:12}; The loss of two battles at length brought this stiff-necked people to enquire of the Lord; for all the company at this time met at Shiloh, and kept a day of fasting and prayer with great earnestness and solemnity. "Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear." "Behold,ª the LORD'Sª handª is not¹ shortened,ª° that it cannot save;ª°¹ neither¹ his earª heavy,ª° that it cannot hear:ª°¹" {Isa 59:1}
