he let them go:
"If¹ fireª break out,ª ° and catchª ° in thorns,ª so that the stacks of corn,ª or¹ the standing corn,ª or¹ the field,ª be consumedª ° [therewith]; he that kindledª °¹ the fireª shall surely² ° make restitution.ª °" {Exd 22:6} + "Therefore he saidª ° unto¹ his servants,ª See,ª ° Joab'sª fieldª is nearª mine,ª and he hath barleyª there;¹ go² °¹ and setª ° it on fire.ª And Absalom'sª servantsª setª °¹ the fieldª on fire.ª" {2Sm 14:30}
