- The whole of this account is found in "And unto Calebª the sonª of Jephunnehª he gaveª° a partª amongª the childrenª of Judah,ª accordingª to the commandmentª of the LORDª to Joshua,ª [even]¹ the cityª of Arbaª°² the fatherª of Anak,ª which¹ [city is] Hebron.ª ... Who answered,ª° Giveª° me a blessing;ª for¹ thou hast givenª° me a southª land;ª giveª° me also springsª of water.ª And he gaveª° her¹ the upperª springs,ª and the netherª springs.ª" {Jsh 15:13-19}, and seems to be inserted here by way of recapitulation. "And Calebª said,ª° He that¹ smitethª°¹ Kirjathsepher,ª and takethª° it, to him will I giveª°¹ Achsahª my daughterª to wife.ª ...
