and ye shall stone:
In these laws, the betrothed damsel was considered as the wife of the man to whom she was engaged, though they had not come together; and therefore the crime was adjudged adultery. But a charitable supposition is admitted in the damsel's favour, in case she was found in a solitary place.

he hath humbled:
"And it shall be,¹ if¹ thou have no delightª °¹ in her, then thou shalt let her goª ° whither she will;ª but thou shalt not¹ sell² ° her at allª ° for money,ª thou shalt not¹ make merchandiseª ° of her, becauseª ¹ thou hast humbledª ° her." {Deu 21:14} + "And Jacobª saidª ° unto¹ Laban,ª Giveª ° [me]¹ my wife,ª for¹ my daysª are fulfilled,ª ° that I may go inª ° unto¹ her." {Gen 29:21} + "Butª while heª thought¹ on² ° these things,ª behold,ª ° the angelª of the Lordª appearedª ° unto himª inª a dream,ª saying,ª ° Joseph,ª thou sonª of David,ª fearª ° notª to takeª ° unto thee² Maryª thy¹ wife:ª forª that which is conceivedª ° inª herª isª ° ofª the Holyª Ghost.ª" {Mtt 1:20} + "Thenª Josephª being raisedª ° fromª sleepª didª ° asª the¹ angelª of the Lordª had biddenª ° him,ª andª tookª ° unto him² his¹ wife:ª" {Mtt 1:24}

so thou shalt put:
