Red Sea:
or, Zuph, Or rather, Suph, This could not have been the Red Sea, not only because the word yam, "sea," is not joined with it as usual, but because they were now east of Jordan, and farther from the Red Sea than ever. It seems to be the same which is called Suphah in "Wherefore¹ ¹ it is saidª ° in the bookª of the warsª of the LORD,ª ¹ What he didª in the Red sea,ª and in the brooksª of Arnon,ª" {Num 21:14}; which must necessarily signify some place in or adjoining to the plains of Moab, and not far from the Jordan and Arnon. Ptolemy mentions a people called Sophonites that dwelt in Arabia Petrea, who may have taken their name from this place.

Paran:
Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab, seem to have been either places or cities not far from the plains of Moab; for it is evident that Paran and Hazeroth could not have been those near the Red sea, and not far from Horeb. "And he said,ª ° The LORDª cameª ° from Sinai,ª ¹ and rose upª ° from Seirª ¹ unto them; he shined forthª ° from mountª ¹ Paran,ª and he cameª ° with ten thousandsª ¹ of saints:ª from his right handª ¹ [went] a fieryª ² ° lawª for them." {Deu 33:2} + "And he dweltª ° in the wildernessª of Paran:ª and his motherª tookª ° him a wifeª out of the landª ¹ of Egypt.ª" {Gen 21:21} + "And the childrenª of Israelª tookª ° their journeysª out of the wildernessª ¹ of Sinai;ª and the cloudª restedª ° in the wildernessª of Paran.ª" {Num 10:12} + "And afterwardª the peopleª removedª ° from Hazeroth,ª ¹ and pitchedª ° in the wildernessª of Paran.ª" {Num 12:16} + "And Mosesª by¹ the commandmentª of the LORDª sentª ° them from the wildernessª ¹ of Paran:ª all¹ those¹ men² ¹ [were]² headsª of the childrenª of Israel.ª" {Num 13:3} + "And they went² °¹ and cameª ° to¹ Moses,ª and to¹ Aaron,ª and to¹ all¹ the congregationª of the childrenª of Israel,ª unto¹ the wildernessª of Paran,ª to Kadesh;ª and brought backª ° wordª unto them, and unto all¹ the congregation,ª and shewedª ° them¹ the fruitª of the land.ª" {Num 13:26} + "And Samuelª died;ª ° and all¹ the Israelitesª were gathered together,ª ° and lamentedª ° him, and buriedª ° him in his houseª at Ramah.ª And Davidª arose,ª ° and went downª ° to¹ the wildernessª of Paran.ª" {1Sm 25:1} + "Godª cameª ° from Teman,ª ¹ and the Holy Oneª from mountª ¹ Paran.ª Selah.ª His gloryª coveredª ° the heavens,ª and the earthª was fullª ° of his praise.ª" {Hab 3:3}

Hazeroth:
"[And] the peopleª journeyedª ° from Kibrothhattaavahª ¹ unto Hazeroth;ª and abode¹ at Hazeroth.ª" {Num 11:35} + "And they departedª ° from Kibrothhattaavah,ª ¹ and encampedª ° at Hazeroth.ª ... And they departedª ° from Hazeroth,ª ¹ and pitchedª ° in Rithmah.ª" {Num 33:17-18}
