if he smite:
"But if¹ he thrustª ° him suddenlyª withoutª enmity,ª or¹ have castª ° upon¹ him any thingª ¹ without¹ laying of wait,ª ... Then the congregationª shall judgeª ° between¹ the slayerª ° and the revengerª ° of bloodª according to¹ these¹ judgments:ª" {Num 35:22-24} + "But if¹ any manª hateª °¹ his neighbour,ª and lie in waitª ° for him, and rise upª ° against¹ him, and smiteª ° him mortallyª that he die,ª ° and fleethª ° into¹ oneª of theseª cities:ª ...
