And Moses said unto the LORD[YHWH]:
From this verse to "Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now." {Num 14:19}, inclusive, we have the words of the earnest intercession of Moses. They need no explanation; they are full of simplicity and energy.
Then the:
"Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people." {Exd 32:12} + "I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. ... Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness." {Deu 9:26-28} + "Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, [and] lest they should say, Our hand [is] high, and the LORD hath not done all this." {Deu 32:27} + "O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies! ... For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear [of it], and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?" {Jsh 7:8-9} + "Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy [them]." {Psa 106:23} + "But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they [were], in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt." {Ezk 20:9} + "But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out." {Ezk 20:14}
