- "And when the cloudª tarried longª° upon¹ the tabernacleª manyª days,ª then the childrenª of Israelª keptª°¹ the chargeª of the LORD,ª and journeyedª° not.¹" {Num 9:19} + "Becauseª that¹ Abrahamª obeyedª° my voice,ª and keptª° my charge,ª my commandments,ª my statutes,ª and my laws.ª" {Gen 26:5} + "Ye have not¹ leftª°¹ your brethrenª these¹ manyª daysª unto¹ this¹ day,ª but have keptª°¹ the chargeª of the commandmentª of the LORDª your God.ª" {Jsh 22:3} + "And ye have not¹ keptª° the chargeª of mine holy things:ª but ye have setª° keepersª° of my chargeª in my sanctuaryª for yourselves." {Ezk 44:8} + "Thus¹ saithª° the LORDª of hosts;ª If¹ thou wilt walk²°¹ in my ways,ª and if¹ thou wilt keepª°¹ my charge,ª then thou¹ shalt also¹ judgeª°¹ my house,ª and shalt also¹ keepª° my¹ courts,ª and I will giveª° thee places to walkª° among¹ these¹ that stand¹ by.²°" {Zch 3:7}; Some of the Levites may have been appointed to watch the moving of the pillar, and to give timely notice to the camp of its beginning to stir; and this is called "keeping the charge of the Lord." It is uncomfortable staying when God is departed, but very safe and pleasant going, when we see God go before us, and resting where he appoints us to rest.
