- Wehainaphta othom tenoophath, literally, as in "And Aaronª shall offerª°¹ the Levitesª beforeª the LORDª [for] an offeringª of¹¹ the childrenª of Israel,ª that they may executeª°¹¹ the serviceª of the LORD.ª" {Num 8:11}, "and thou shalt wave them for a wave-offering;" manifestly in allusion to the ancient sacrificial rite of waving the sacrifices before the Lord; and it is probable, that some significant action, analogous to the waving of the sacrifice, was employed on this occasion; for the Levites were considered as an offering to the Lord, to whose service they were wholly dedicated. To this the apostle Paul manifestly alludes, when, in writing to the Romans, he says ("I beseechª° youª therefore,ª brethren,ª byª the¹ merciesª of God,ª that ye presentª° yourª bodiesª a livingª° sacrifice,ª holy,ª acceptableª unto God,ª [which is] yourª reasonableª service.ª" {Rom 12:1}), "I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." "And Aaronª shall offerª°¹ the Levitesª beforeª the LORDª [for] an offeringª of¹¹ the childrenª of Israel,ª that they may executeª°¹¹ the serviceª of the LORD.ª" {Num 8:11} + "And the Levitesª were purified,ª° and they washedª° their clothes;ª and Aaronª offeredª° them [as] an offeringª beforeª the LORD;ª and Aaronª made an atonementª° for¹ them to cleanseª° them." {Num 8:21} + "And I,¹ behold,¹ I have takenª°¹ your brethrenª the Levitesª from amongª¹ the childrenª of Israel:ª to you [they are] givenª° [as] a giftª for the LORD,ª to doª°¹ the serviceª of the tabernacleª of the congregation.ª" {Num 18:6} + "I beseechª° youª therefore,ª brethren,ª byª the¹ merciesª of God,ª that ye presentª° yourª bodiesª a livingª° sacrifice,ª holy,ª acceptableª unto God,ª [which is] yourª reasonableª service.ª" {Rom 12:1} + "That I² should¹ beª²° the ministerª of Jesusª Christª toª the¹ Gentiles,ª ministeringª° the¹ gospelª of God,ª thatª the¹ offering upª of the¹ Gentilesª might beª° acceptable,ª being sanctifiedª° byª the Holyª Ghost.ª" {Rom 15:16}
