The embers of the sacred fire seem to have been removed in the grate, which was carried apart from the brazen altar; both being covered from view by purple cloths. "And shall putª° thereon¹ the coveringª of badgers'ª skins,ª and shall spreadª° overª¹ [it] a clothª whollyª of blue,ª and shall putª° in the stavesª thereof. ... And they shall takeª° a clothª of blue,ª and coverª°¹ the candlestickª of the light,ª and his lamps,ª and his tongs,ª and his snuffdishes,ª and all¹ the oilª vesselsª thereof, wherewith¹ they ministerª° unto it:" {Num 4:6-9} + "And upon¹ the goldenª altarª they shall spreadª° a clothª of blue,ª and coverª° it with a coveringª of badgers'ª skins,ª and shall put²°¹¹ to the stavesª thereof: ...
