"Sayª ° unto¹ them, Whosoeverª ¹ [he be] of all¹ ¹ your seedª among your generations,ª that¹ goethª ° unto¹ the holy things,ª which¹ the childrenª of Israelª hallowª ° unto the LORD,ª having his uncleannessª upon¹ him, that¹ soulª shall be cut offª ° from my presence:ª ¹ I¹ [am] the LORD.ª ... The soulª which¹ hath touchedª ° any such shall be uncleanª ° until¹ even,ª and shall not¹ eatª ° of¹ the holy things,ª unlessª ¹ he washª ° his fleshª with water.ª" {Lev 22:3-6} + "Thus shall ye separateª °¹ the childrenª of Israelª from their uncleanness;ª ¹ that they dieª ° not¹ in their uncleanness,ª when they defileª °¹ my tabernacleª that¹ [is] amongª them." {Lev 15:31} + "He shall separateª ° [himself] from wineª ¹ and strong drink,ª and shall drinkª ° no¹ vinegarª of wine,ª or vinegarª of strong drink,ª neither¹ shall he drinkª ° any¹ liquorª of grapes,ª nor¹ eatª ° moistª grapes,ª or dried.ª ... that they profane not:
This is the very ground of the prohibition, that they might preserve in their minds a holy reverence for the Divine Majesty. Hence when they approached unto him, they must be free from every legal impurity. If great men are to be approached with respect, how much more must Jehovah be approached with holy reverence! "Neither¹ shall ye profaneª °¹ my holyª name;ª but I will be hallowedª ° amongª the childrenª of Israel:ª I¹ [am] the LORDª which hallowª ° you," {Lev 22:32} + "And thou shalt not² °¹ let¹ any of thy seedª ¹ pass² ° through¹ [the fire] to Molech,ª neither¹ shalt thou profaneª °¹ the nameª of thy God:ª I¹ [am] the LORD.ª" {Lev 18:21} + "And ye shall not¹ swearª ° by my nameª falsely,ª neither shalt thou profaneª °¹ the nameª of thy God:ª I¹ [am] the LORD.ª" {Lev 19:12} + "And I¹ will setª °¹ my faceª against that¹ man,ª and will cut him offª °¹ from amongª ¹ his people;ª because¹ he hath givenª ° of his seedª ¹ unto Molech,ª to¹ defileª °¹ my sanctuary,ª and to profaneª °¹ my holyª name.ª" {Lev 20:3} + "They shall be¹ holy² ¹ unto their God,ª and not¹ profaneª ° the nameª of their God:ª for¹ ¹ the offerings² ° of the LORD² made by fire,ª ¹ [and] the breadª of their God,ª they¹ do offer:ª ° therefore they shall be¹ holy.² ¹" {Lev 21:6}

hallow:
"That thou shalt set apartª ° unto the LORDª all¹ that openethª the matrix,ª and every¹ firstlingª that comethª of a beastª which¹ thou hast;¹ the malesª [shall be] the LORD'S.ª" {Exd 13:12} + "And it shall be¹ upon¹ Aaron'sª forehead,ª that Aaronª may bearª °¹ the iniquityª of the holy things,ª which¹ the childrenª of Israelª shall hallowª ° in all¹ their holyª gifts;ª and it shall be¹ alwaysª upon¹ his forehead,ª that they may be acceptedª beforeª the LORD.ª" {Exd 28:38} + "And ye shall bearª ° no¹ sinª by reason of¹ it, when ye have heavedª ° from it¹ the bestª of¹ it: neither¹ shall ye polluteª ° the holy thingsª of the childrenª of Israel,ª lest¹ ye die.ª °" {Num 18:32} + "All¹ the firstlingª malesª that¹ comeª ° of thy herdª and of thy flockª thou shalt sanctifyª ° unto the LORDª thy God:ª thou shalt do no¹ workª ° with the firstlingª of thy bullock,ª nor¹ shearª ° the firstlingª of thy sheep.ª" {Deu 15:19}
