{Leviticus 7:23} Speak 1696 z8761 unto x413 the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 saying, 559 z8800 Ye shall eat 398 z8799 no manner x3808 x3605 of fat, 2459 of ox, 7794 or of sheep, 3775 or of goat. 5795
fat:
Any other fat they might eat; but the fat of these was sacred, because they were the only animals which were offered in sacrifice, though many others ranked among the clean animals as well as these. This prohibition may, however, be understood of these animals when offered in sacrifice, and then only in reference to the inward fat, described in "And the twoª kidneys,ª and the fatª that¹ [is] on¹ them, which¹ [is] by¹ the flanks,ª and the caulª [that is] above¹ the liver,ª with¹ the kidneys,ª it shall he take away:ª°" {Lev 7:4}. Of the fat in any other circumstances, it cannot be intended, as it was one of the especial blessings which God gave to his people - "Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats," were the provision which he graciously bestowed on his followers. (See note on "[So] the LORDª aloneª did leadª° him, and [there was] no¹ strangeª godª with¹ him. ... Butterª of kine,ª and milkª of sheep,ª with¹ fatª of lambs,ª and ramsª of the breedª of Bashan,ª and goats,ª with¹ the fatª of kidneysª of wheat;ª and thou didst drinkª° the pureª bloodª of the grape.ª" {Deu 32:12-14}.) "And the priestª shall burnª° them upon the altar:ª [it is] the foodª of the offering made by fireª for a sweetª savour:ª all¹ the fatª [is] the LORD'S.ª ... [It shall be] a perpetualª statuteª for your generationsª throughout all¹ your dwellings,ª that ye eatª° neither¹¹ fatª nor blood.ª" {Lev 3:16-17} + "And he shall take offª° from¹ it all¹ the fatª of the bullockª for the sin offering;ª¹ the fatª that coverethª°¹ the inwards,ª and all¹ the fatª that¹ [is] upon¹ the inwards,ª ... As¹ it was taken offª° from the bullockª¹ of the sacrificeª of peace offerings:ª and the priestª shall burnª° them upon¹ the altarª of the burnt offering.ª" {Lev 4:8-10} + "And the priestª shall sprinkleª°¹ the bloodª upon¹ the altarª of the LORDª [at] the doorª of the tabernacleª of the congregation,ª and burnª° the fatª for a sweetª savourª unto the LORD.ª" {Lev 17:6} + "Which¹ did eatª° the fatª of their sacrifices,ª [and] drankª° the wineª of their drink offerings?ª let them rise upª° and helpª° you, [and] be¹¹ your protection.ª" {Deu 32:38} + "Also¹ before¹ they burntª°¹ the fat,ª the priest'sª servantª came,ª° and saidª° to the manª that sacrificed,ª° Giveª° fleshª to roastª° for the priest;ª for he will not¹ haveª° sodden²° fleshª¹ of¹ thee, but¹¹ raw.ª ... Wherefore the sinª of the young menª was¹ veryª greatª¹ beforeª the LORD:ª for¹ men²¹ abhorredª°¹ the offeringª of the LORD.ª" {1Sm 2:15-17} + "Wherefore¹ kickª° ye at my sacrificeª and at mine offering,ª which¹ I have commandedª° [in my] habitation;ª and honourestª°¹ thy sonsª above¹ me, to make yourselves fatª° with the chiefestª¹ of all¹ the offeringsª of Israelª my people?ª" {1Sm 2:29} + "Forª the¹ heartª of thisª peopleª is waxed gross,ª° andª their earsª are dull² of hearing,ª°¹ andª their²¹ eyesª have they closed;ª° lestª they should seeª° with [their] eyes,ª andª hearª° with [their] ears,ª andª understandª° with [their] heart,ª andª should be converted,ª° andª I should healª° them.ª" {Act 28:27} + "Forª ifª ye liveª° afterª the flesh,ª ye shallª° die:ª° butª ifª ye²° through the Spiritª do mortifyª° the¹ deedsª of the¹ body,ª ye shall live.ª°" {Rom 8:13} + "Let us walkª° honestly,ª asª inª the day;ª notª in riotingª andª drunkenness,ª notª in chamberingª andª wantonness,ª notª in strifeª andª envying.ª" {Rom 13:13}
