tabernacle of testimony:

1. A tent or pavilion - "How¹ goodlyª° are thy tents,ª O Jacob,ª [and] thy tabernacles,ª O Israel!ª" {Num 24:5} + "Thenª answeredª° Peter,ª and saidª° unto Jesus,ª Lord,ª it isª° goodª for usª to beª° here:ª ifª thou wilt,ª° let us makeª° hereª threeª tabernacles;ª oneª for thee,ª andª oneª for Moses,ª andª oneª for Elias.ª" {Mtt 17:4}
2. A house or dwelling - "For thou hast said,ª° My doctrineª [is] pure,ª and I am¹ cleanª in thine eyes.ª" {Job 11:4} + "If¹ thou returnª° to¹ the Almighty,ª thou shalt be built up,ª° thou shalt put away²° iniquityª farª° from thy tabernacles.ª¹" {Job 22:23}
3. A kind of tent, which is designated, to speak after the manner of the men, the palace of the Most High, the dwelling of the God of Israel - "Moreover thou shalt makeª° the tabernacleª [with] tenª curtainsª [of] fine twined²° linen,ª¹ and blue,ª and purple,ª and scarlet:ªª [with] cherubimsª of cunningª° workª shalt thou makeª° them." {Exd 26:1} + "Forª there was²° a tabernacleª made;ª° the¹ first,ª whereinªª² [was] the¹¹ candlestick,ª andª the¹ table,ª andª the¹ shewbread;ªª whichª is calledª° the sanctuary.ª ... Andª afterª the¹ secondª veil,ª the tabernacleª which² is calledª° the Holiest of all;ª" {Hbr 9:2-3}
4. Christ's human nature, of which the Jewish tabernacle was a type, wherein God dwells really, substantially, and personally - "A ministerª of the¹ sanctuary,ª andª of the¹ trueª tabernacle,ª whichª the¹ Lordª pitched,ª° andª notª man.ª" {Hbr 8:2} + "Butª Christª being comeª° an high priestª of good thingsª to come,ª° byª a greaterª andª more perfectª tabernacle,ª notª made with hands,ª that is to say,ª° notª of thisª building;ª" {Hbr 9:11}
5. The true church militant - "[[A Psalmª of David.]]ª LORD,ª who¹ shall abideª° in thy tabernacle?ª who¹ shall dwellª° in thy holyª hill?ª" {Psa 15:1}
6. Our natural body, in which the soul lodges as in a tabernacle - "Forª we knowª° thatª ifª ourª earthlyª houseª of [this] tabernacleª were dissolved,ª° we haveª° a buildingª ofª God,ª an houseª not made with hands,ª eternalª inª the¹ heavens.ª" {2Co 5:1} + "Yea,ª I think¹ it²° meet,ª as long asªª I amª° inª thisª tabernacle,ª to stir²° you² upª°¹ by² putting [you] in remembrance;ª¹" {2Pe 1:13}
7. The token of God's gracious presence - "Andª I heardª° a greatª voiceª out ofª heavenª saying,ª° Behold,ª° the¹ tabernacleª of Godª [is] withª men,ª andª he will dwellª° withª them,ª andª theyª shall beª° his²¹ people,ª andª Godª himself²¹ shall beª° withª them,ª [and be] their²¹ God.ª" {Rev 21:3}
