a breastplate:
Choshen, in Hebrew is used for the square breast-plate of the high priest, in which were set twelve precious stones, each being engraved with the name of one of the sons of Jacob. "And thou shalt makeª° the breastplateª of judgmentª with cunningª° work;ª after the workª of the ephodª thou shalt makeª° it; [of] gold,ª [of] blue,ª and [of] purple,ª and [of] scarlet,ªª and [of] fine twined²° linen,ª¹ shalt thou makeª° it." {Exd 28:15} + "And he madeª°¹ the breastplateª [of] cunningª° work,ª like the workª of the ephod;ª [of] gold,ª blue,ª and purple,ª and scarlet,ªª and fine twined²° linen.ª¹ ... ephod:
The ephod seems to have been a short cloak, without sleeves. "And they shall makeª°¹ the ephodª [of] gold,ª [of] blue,ª and [of] purple,ª [of] scarlet,ªª and fine twined²° linen,ª¹ with cunningª° work.ª ... And twoª chainsª [of] pureª goldª at the ends;ª [of] wreathenª workª shalt thou makeª° them, and fastenª°¹ the wreathenª chainsª to¹ the ouches.ª" {Exd 28:6-14} + "And he madeª°¹ the ephodª [of] gold,ª blue,ª and purple,ª and scarlet,ªª and fine twined²° linen.ª¹ ... a robe:
The word meil, from âlah, to ascend, go up on, may be considered as an upper garment that goes up or over the rest, a surtout. "And thou shalt makeª°¹ the robeª of the ephodª allª [of] blue.ª ... A goldenª bellª and a pomegranate,ª a goldenª bellª and a pomegranate,ª upon¹ the hemª of the robeª round about.ª" {Exd 28:31-34} + "And they madeª° bellsª [of] pureª gold,ª and putª°¹ the bellsª betweenª the pomegranatesª upon¹ the hemª of the robe,ª round aboutª betweenª the pomegranates;ª ... A bellª and a pomegranate,ª a bellª and a pomegranate,ª round aboutª¹ the hemª of the robeª to ministerª° [in]; as¹ the LORDª commandedª°¹ Moses.ª" {Exd 39:25-26}
broidered:
