the judges:

This significant ceremony was intended as a mark of permanent servitude, and was calculated to impress the servant with the duty of hearing all his master's orders, and obeying them punctually. "Sacrificeª and offeringª thou didst not¹ desire;ª° mine earsª hast thou opened:ª° burnt offeringª and sin offeringª hast thou not¹ required.ª° ... I delightª° to doª° thy will,ª O my God:ª yea, thy lawª [is] withinª my heart.ª" {Psa 40:6-8}
for ever:
