- cattle:
- Mikneh, from kanah, to posses, signifies property or possession of any kind, though it frequently is used for cattle, because in ancient times they constituted the principal part of a man's possessions. "And Josephª said,ª° Giveª° your cattle;ª and I will giveª° you for your cattle,ª if¹ moneyª fail.ª°" {Gen 47:16} + "Behold,¹ the handª of the LORDª isª° upon thy cattleª which¹ [is] in the field,ª upon the horses,ª upon the asses,ª upon the camels,ª upon the oxen,ª and upon the sheep:ª [there shall be] a veryª grievousª murrain.ª ... And the LORDª didª°¹ that¹ thingª on the morrow,ª¹ and all¹ the cattleª of Egyptª died:ª° but of the cattleª¹ of the childrenª of Israelª diedª° not¹ one.ª" {Exd 9:3-6} + "And they tookª°¹ ashesª of the furnace,ª and stoodª° beforeª Pharaoh;ª and Mosesª sprinkledª° it up toward heaven;ª and it became¹ a boilª breaking forthª° [with] blainsª upon man,ª and upon beast.ª" {Exd 9:10} + "And he that¹ regardedªª° not¹ the wordª of the LORDª leftª°¹ his servantsª and his cattleª in the field.ª" {Exd 9:21}
