- Ararat:
- Ararat is generally understood to be Armenia, as it is rendered elsewhere, in which there is a great chain of mountains, like the Alps or the Pyrenees, upon the highest part of which, called by some, "The Finger Mountain," the ark is supposed to have rested. "And it came to pass,¹ as he¹ was worshippingª° in the houseª of Nisrochª his god,ª that Adrammelechª and Sharezerª his sonsª smoteª° him with the sword:ª and they¹ escapedª° into the landª of Armenia.ª And Esarhaddonª his sonª reignedª° in his stead.¹" {2Kg 19:37} + "And it came to pass,¹ as he¹ was worshippingª° in the houseª of Nisrochª his god,ª that Adrammelechª and Sharezerª his sonsª smoteª° him with the sword;ª and they¹ escapedª° into the landª of Armenia:ª and Esarhaddonª his sonª reignedª° in his stead.¹" {Isa 37:38} + "Set ye upª° a standardª in the land,ª blowª° the trumpetª among the nations,ª prepareª° the nationsª against¹ her, call togetherª° against¹ her the kingdomsª of Ararat,ª Minni,ª and Ashchenaz;ª appointª° a captainª against¹ her; cause the horsesª to come upª° as the roughª caterpillers.ª" {Jer 51:27}
