Let the waters:
"And Godª blessedª ° them, saying,ª ° Be fruitful,ª ° and multiply,ª ° and fillª °¹ the watersª in the seas,ª and let fowlª multiplyª ° in the earth.ª" {Gen 1:22} + "And out of¹ the groundª the LORDª Godª formedª ° every¹ beastª of the field,ª and every¹ fowlª of the air;ª and broughtª ° [them] unto¹ Adam² ¹ to seeª ° what¹ he would callª ° them: and whatsoever¹ ¹ Adam² ¹ calledª ° every livingª creature,ª thatª [was] the name¹ thereof.²" {Gen 2:19} + "Bring forthª ° with¹ thee every¹ living thingª that¹ [is] with¹ thee, of all¹ ¹ flesh,ª [both] of fowl,ª and of cattle,ª and of every¹ creeping thingª that creepethª ° upon¹ the earth;ª that they may breed abundantlyª ° in the earth,ª and be fruitful,ª ° and multiplyª ° upon¹ the earth.ª" {Gen 8:17} + "O LORD,ª how¹ manifoldª ° are thy works!ª in wisdomª hast thou madeª ° them all:¹ the earthª is fullª ° of thy riches.ª ... moving:
or, creeping, "And he spakeª ° of¹ trees,ª from¹ the cedar treeª that¹ [is] in Lebanonª even unto¹ the hyssopª that¹ springeth outª ° of the wall:ª he spakeª ° also of¹ beasts,ª and of¹ fowl,ª and of¹ creeping things,ª and of¹ fishes.ª" {1Kg 4:33}

life:
Heb. a living soul, "And to every¹ beastª of the earth,ª and to every¹ fowlª of the air,ª and to every thing¹ that creepethª ° upon¹ the earth,ª wherein¹ [there is] life,ª ª [I have given]¹ every¹ greenª herbª for meat:ª and it was¹ so.¹" {Gen 1:30} + "For¹ there isª a manª whose labourª ¹ [is] in wisdom,ª and in knowledge,ª and in equity;ª yet to a manª that hath not¹ ¹ labouredª ° therein shall he leaveª ° it [for] his portion.ª This¹ also¹ [is] vanityª and a greatª evil.ª" {Ecc 2:21}

fowl that may fly:
Heb. let fowl fly, This marginal reading is more conformable to the original, and reconciles this passage with "And out of¹ the groundª the LORDª Godª formedª ° every¹ beastª of the field,ª and every¹ fowlª of the air;ª and broughtª ° [them] unto¹ Adam² ¹ to seeª ° what¹ he would callª ° them: and whatsoever¹ ¹ Adam² ¹ calledª ° every livingª creature,ª thatª [was] the name¹ thereof.²" {Gen 2:19}. The word fowl, from the Saxon fleon, to fly, exactly corresponds to the original, which denotes every thing that flies, whether bird or insect.

open firmament:
Heb. face of the firmament, "And Godª madeª °¹ the firmament,ª and dividedª °¹ the watersª whichª [were] underª ¹ the firmamentª from¹ the watersª whichª [were] aboveª ¹ the firmament:ª and it was¹ so.ª" {Gen 1:7} + "And Godª said,ª ° Let there be¹ lightsª in the firmamentª of the heavenª to divideª °¹ the dayª from¹ the night;ª and let them be¹ for signs,ª and for seasons,ª and for days,ª and years:ª" {Gen 1:14}
